Abstract
Yapılan bu çalışma Karaylar ya da Kara’imler topluluğunun okuyuculara tanıtılması amacı ile yapılmış olup bu gaye doğrultusunda çeşitli tezlerden, dergi makalelerinden ve elektronik kaynaklardan faydalanılarak sentez yapılmıştır. İbranice kökenli olan Kara’im kelimesi “devam ediciler” anlamına gelmektedir. Bu anlamdan yola çıkarak Karaimlerin Hazarlar topluluğu içinde yaşayan yani Hazarların devamı niteliğinde sayılan Türkler olduğu söylenmektedir. Karai sözcüğü ayrıca Yahudiliğin Karai mezhebine bağlı kişiler içinde kullanılmaktadır. Karailik mezhebinin sekizinci yüzyılda Irak’ta ortaya çıktığı söylenmiştir. Bu mezhebe göre kişi dünyada yaptıklarının karşılığını ahirette alacaktır. Bu mezhebin kutsal kitabı Tanah’tır ve bu mezhepte tek Tanrı inancı hakimdir. Bu mezhebe göre Kudüs kutsal şehir olarak kabul edilmektedir. Kurban ibadeti ve Kenesa adı verilen mabetlerde yapılan toplu ibadetler bu mezhepte yer almaktadır. Karaimlerin cenaze merasimleri ise İslamiyet’tekiyle benzerlik göstermektedir.
Türkiye’de Karaimler ile ilgili yapılan çalışmalar neticesinde bu topluluğun Yahudiliği kabul eden Türkler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Günümüzde ise bu topluluğun İsrail, Mısır, Türkiye, Azerbaycan, Rusya, Fransa, Ukrayna, ABD, Polonya, Litvanya gibi dünyanın farklı yerlerinde varlığını sürdürdüğü görülmüştür.

Abstract
This study was carried out with the aim of introducing the Karaites or Kara'im community to the readers, and in line with this purpose, a synthesis was made by making use of various theses, journal articles and electronic resources. The word Kara'im, of Hebrew origin, means "perpetuators". Based on this meaning, it is said that the Karaims are Turks living in the Khazar community, that is, considered as a continuation of the Khazars. The word Karai is also used for people who belong to the Karai sect of Judaism. The Karaite sect is said to have emerged in Iraq in the eighth century. According to this sect, a person will receive what he has done in this world in the hereafter. The holy book of this sect is Tanakh and belief in one God is dominant in this sect. According to this sect, Jerusalem is considered the holy city. Sacrifice worship and collective worship in temples called Kenesa are included in this sect. The funeral ceremonies of the Karaims are similar to those in Islam.
As a result of the studies on the Karaims in Turkey, it has been determined that this community is the Turks who accept Judaism. Today, it has been seen that this community continues to exist in different parts of the world such as Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, France, Ukraine, USA, Poland, Lithuania.
