Abstract
Kadınlar, tarih boyunca pek çok noktada olduğu gibi Orta Çağ döneminde de erkek egemen dünyanın arkasında bırakılmışlardır. Dünya tarihine keskin katkılarda bulunan kadınlar ne yazık ki kronik yazarları tarafından pek dikkate alınmamışlardır. Genel olarak kroniklerin satır aralarından ya da halk hikâyelerinden öğrendiğimiz kadarıyla yorum yapabildiğimiz kadınlar, tarihin genel hatlarında olduğu gibi Orta Çağ boyunca da arka plana itilmişlerdir. Kendi fikir dünyasını, çalışmalarını, etkinliğini aktarabilen kadın sayısı bu dönemde oldukça kısıtlıdır.
Bu durumun pek çok nedeni olmakla birlikte esas sebeplerinden birisi hiç şüphesiz inançtan kaynaklanmaktaydı. Orta Çağ boyunca dominant bir karaktere bürünen Hıristiyan inancı, kendi oluşturduğu düzenle kadın sıfatını neredeyse yok saymaktaydı. Bu durum topluma da yansımış bu nedenle kadınların özgürlük alanı fazlasıyla kısıtlanmıştır. Özellikle Hıristiyanlığın yaygın olduğu Avrupa toplumlarında kadın algısı ciddi anlamda derinlik kazanmıştır. Kadınların yaşam alanları, hayatlarını kaybettikleri yerler, ağırlıklı olarak bulundukları mekânlar ve toplum içindeki yaşamı gibi konular Orta Çağ boyunca kadın algısının oluşmasına katkıda bulunmuştur.
Bu nedenle asıl odak noktamız Orta Çağ döneminde Avrupa toplumunda kadın algısının şekillenmesinin bir portresini hazırlamaktır. Bunu yaparken sadece mevcut çalışmalardan yararlanmakla kalmayıp, dönemin edebî metinlerinden de faydalanarak Orta Çağ Avrupası’nda kadın algısını tespit etmeye çalışacağız.

Abstract
Women were left behind the male-dominated world during the Middle Ages, as they were at many points throughout history. Women who made edge contributions to world history, unfortunately, were not taken into account by their chroniclers. In general, as we learn from the interlinears of the chronicles or from the folk tales, the women we can comment on were pushed into the background during the Middle Ages, as in the general lines of history. The number of women who can convey their world of ideas, works and activities is very limited in this period.
Although there are many reasons for this situation, one of the main reasons was undoubtedly due to belief. The Christian belief, which assumed a dominant character during the Middle Ages, almost ignored the adjective of woman with its own order. This situation is also reflected in the society, so the freedom of women is severely restricted. Especially in European societies where Christianity is widespread, the perception of women has gained a substantially depth. Issues such as the living spaces of women, the places where they lost their lives, the places where they predominantly reside and their life in society contributed to the formation of women's perception during the Middle Ages.
Therefore, our main focus is to prepare a portrait of the shaping of the perception of women in European society during the Middle Ages. While doing this, we will try to determine the perception of women in Medieval Europe by not only benefiting from the existing studies, but also making use of the literary texts of the period.
