Abstract
Orta Çağ'da Pisa ve Venedik, İtalya Yarımadası'nın Amalfi ve Ceneviz ile birlikte önde gelen devletleri arasında idi. Bu iki devlet Orta Çağ boyunca gerek Bizans İmparatorluğu'ndan gerekse de Yakın Doğu'daki diğer Latin devletlerinden imtiyaz alıp ticaretlerini yaymak için mücadele etmişler ve Doğu Akdeniz'de koloniler kurmuşlardır. Bu makale I. Haçlı Seferi sırasında Pisa ve Venedik arasında Rodos yakınlarında meydana geldiği düşünülen deniz savaşını ele almaktadır.Bizans tarihçisi Anna Komnena'nın Alexias adlı eseri ile dönemin en önemli Venedik kaynağı olduğu düşünülen Historia de translatione Sancti Nicolai karşılaştırılarak deniz savaşının tarihlendirilmesi, tam olarak nerede yapıldığı ve savaşın sonucunda gerçekleştirilen antlaşmaları konu edinmektedir. Bununla birlikte deniz savaşının Pisa ile Bizans İmparatorluğu arasında vuku bulduğu üzerinde de durulmaktadır.

Abstract
Pisa and Venice were among the leading states of the Italian Peninsula, along with Amalfi and Genoa in the medieval period. During the medieval, these two states took priviliges from both the Byzantine Empire and other Latin states in the Near East, fought to spread their trade and established colonies in the Eastern Mediterranean. This article discusses the naval war between Pisa and Venice near Rhodes during the First Crusade.The date of the naval war is based on exactly, where it was fought and the treaties that resulted from the war, comparing the Anna Komnena's Alexias with the Historia de translatione Sancti Nicolai, thought to be the most important Venetian source of the period. However, it is also emphasized that the naval war took place between Pisa and the Byzantine Empire.
