Abstract
19. yüzyıl Türk demokrasi tarihi açısından önemli olaylara tanıklık etmiştir. Önemli ilkler yaşanmış ve bunlar tarihe kazınmıştır. Yaşanan bu gelişmelerin ana gayesi, ülkenin parçalanmaktan kurtarılmasıdır. Aslında ülkedeki Avrupa devletlerinin oyunlarına kanmayan herkes bunun için çaba harcamaktaydı. Amaca ulaşmak için devlet pek çok çareye başvurmuştur. Avrupa tarzı eğitim bunlardan biridir. İşte bu çalışmalar sonunda yeni bir gençlik ortaya çıkmıştır. Avrupa tarzında eğitim alan veya bir şekilde Avrupa’yı gören bu gençlerin amacı tıpkı padişah gibi ülkenin kurtarılmasıdır. Ama bu gençlerin amaca ulaşmak için belirledikleri rota, özgürlüğü getireceğine inandıkları meşrutiyet yönetiminden geçmekteydi. İşte bu noktada yüzyıllardır devletteki tek kudret olan padişahla çeliştiler. İlk başta ‘Yeni Osmanlılar’ sonraları ‘Jön Türkler’ ve en son ‘İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti’ adını alan bu grup, fikirlerini yaymak ve halka ulaşmak için dönemin en etkili gücü olan gazeteyi kullanmıştır. Osmanlı Gazetesi bunlardan biridir. Osmanlı Gazetesi, 1897-1904 yılları arasında çıkarılan İttihat Terakki Cemiyeti’nin yayın organıdır. Gazete, yayın hayatı boyunca yönetime muhalif çeşitli kişilerin eline geçmiştir. Osmanlı Gazetesi sayesinde, gazeteyi çıkaran İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti üyelerinin fikirleri, II. Abdülhamit’e hangi noktalarda eleştirdikleri, eleştirilerinin dozu, II. Abdülhamit’e önerileri hakkında fikir edinilebilir. Ayrıca Osmanlı Gazetesi sayesinde, cemiyet üyelerinin fikri karmaşalarını da izlemek mümkündür.

Abstract
19 century in the history of Turkish democracy has witnessed important events. Important first experienced, and they are etched in history.
