Avanos is a place located in Middle Kızılırmak area of the Middle Anatolia region. It is known that the history of the city is too old. Avanos which is located in Cappadocia area is rich for historical and cultural values. The first knowledge about the Avanos is in the book of Strabon. The knowledge of foreign travellers such as Strabon as well as Paul Lucas, Charles Texier, Roman Oberhummer-Heinrichz Zimmerer and Yorgo Seferis and the knowlegde of domestic traveler Nahit Sırrt Örik will be evaluated in our study.
