Abstract

Šimat-Su’en is the sister of U?ur-ša-İštar, a well-known merchant who had been in commercial activities in Anatolia during the period known as Assyrian Trade Colonies. Šimat-Su’en, who lived in Assur, closely followed the activities of the company in Assyria, as well as being directly involved in the commercial activities in Anatolia and played an important role in her brother U?ur-ša-İštar’s commercial activities. Šimat-Su’en influence on her family's commercial activities was also reflected in her correspondence with her older brother but these correspondences mostly came to the forefront in showing the feelings of a woman who felt alone in Assur.
