Abstract

The Anatolian geography can be compared to a castle surrounded by high and broad mountains. Ankara is located just in the middle of this castle which controls entrance and exit to it. By means of this peculiar feature Ankara has become the governing center of many states and ruling districts throughout history. Flourishing as the center of Galatians, Ankara was also a provincial capital during Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires.
