Abstract

Turkmen started to come to Iraq region from 647. Due to the fact that they have stamped the region for many years, some of the geography in Iraq is called Turcomania. Turcomania is a region covering the cities of Mosul, Arbil, Altun Kupri, Kirkuk, Tuz Khurmatu (Tazehurmatu), Kifri, Karatepe, Kızılarbat, Hanakin, Mendeli, Bedre and Shahbaran, starting from the town of Telafer and its surrounding villages to the east and southeast. During the Ottoman period, the Turkmen continued their lives as peace and security as one of the main elements of the state. When the Ottoman Empire came to its recent times, the difficult times of Turkmens continued today due to the western states' immigration to Iraq's geography. Turcomania region, the Iraqi region was separated from the Mosul and the anadol, and the Turkmen were under British rule. The period between 1918 and 1932 was referred to as the British mandate and the Turkmen were exposed to some massacres during this period.
